Beloved Community

“The end is reconciliation; the end is redemption; the end is the creation of the beloved community.”

In this season of All Souls’ life our vision is animated by Dr. King’s notion of Beloved Community.

Day in and day out we are working to both live as God’s Beloved Community ourselves and to name and help others recognize their own place as Beloved Community.

Here is how this vision is being embodied at All Souls right now…

We are becoming a leader in the new experience of spiritual belonging.

Nearly every Sunday someone is coming through our church doors to give church, God or their spiritual journey one last shot before they walk away. They are being met by a community that welcomes their questions, honors their journey and embraces them as complex, whole and holy beings and because of that they find that they can, maybe for the first time, participate in a spiritual community with their whole selves.

We are providing a space of healing for those wounded by the church.

Since our early days, All Souls has been given the gift of welcoming people back into the gathered church after years away. These are often folks who come with deep wounds inflicted at the hands of Christians. At All Souls they are encountering a people who practice faith together in ways that are redeeming their understanding of what it means to be God’s beloved family.

We are participating in our city as humble learners and are becoming affected and transformed by the people around us.

All Souls is showing up to Boulder as participants in our broader community. We listen, pay attention and work to respond. This ear towards our place has led us to gather folks from the Boulder community at events that create a safer world for our kids through childhood sexual abuse prevention training, make a more just society through ongoing anti-racism education and practice, and engage our spiritual journeys through seeing the death of our dreams as doorways to a deeper experience of life.

Beautiful things are happening in and through All Souls and we dream to not only continue, but grow this work.

In order to live out these dreams we are launching the Beloved Community Campaign

Our goal is to raise $60,000 by January 26th, 2020.

We expect these funds to come through three avenues.

  1. $25,000 in Recurring Monthly Gifts

When you increase your gift or set up a recurring monthly gift we annualize it to count towards our $25,000 goal (a $300/month increase or gift becomes $300 x 12 months = $3600 towards the goal)

  2. $15,000 Matching Gift

Two generous matching gifts have been offered as an incentive to grow recurring giving. When we reach an annualized increase of $25,000 in recurring monthly giving this $15,000 is unlocked.

  3. $20,000 in Year End Giving

When you make one time or year end gifts they contribute to our goal of raising $20,000.

Meeting these goals will do 3 things:

  1. Make up for our current year budget shortfall

  2. Provide a sustainable foundation from which we can begin to invest in our long-term vision.

  3. Generously contribute 10% of the entire Beloved Community Campaign to our work with Hope Chest partner church Iglesia Belen.

Current Reality

We believe part of community building is good communication. Clarity is kindness, so we want to be transparent with our finances. If our budget shortfall continues on the current trend we will not be able to afford our life together as we know it. We will not be able to pay our current staff, or continue renting our offices and worship space.

What Can You Do?

Please consider partnering with us to reach our $60,000 goal through either a monthly recurring gift that helps unlock the $15,000 matching gift or through one time and year end giving! Both recurring and one time gifts can be set up.

Also, share with family and friends!

Thank You!

Thank you! Many have already partnered in this work as new or increased recurring givers and still others through one time gifts. We look forward to celebrating your generosity and God’s faithfulness at our Vision dinner on January 26th!
